Please join us for a guided tour of Delaware Bay/Heislerville Wildlife Management Area in Matt’s Landing, Cumberland County! We’ll walk along trails that wind through pine-oak forests, the Maurice River, and large mudflats along the Delaware Bay. These areas provide varied habitat for songbirds, wading birds, and waterfowl. We’ll keep a lookout for Red-breasted Merganser and Bufflehead, Hooded Merganser, Ruddy Duck, and large snow geese flocks in the salt marshes. Bald eagles, kingfishers, and ospreys are also common here, so we’ll keep an eye out for them as well.
After the walk will drive over to nearby Port Norris to walk PSEG’s wetlands walkway and see the giant Atlantic white Cedar that washed out of the mudflats. Last public restroom is Wawa on Rt. 47 in Mauricetown.
