Phil Witt will show you some of the island’s hidden gems and unique features. If you have a telephoto lens\, bring it! Petty’s Island offers a great variety of birds both in the forest and on the surrounding mud flats. Spectacular panoramic views of Philadelphia will round out the experience. Phil will provide hands-on\, personalized instruction and work with you on composition giving you tools and tips for determining the optimum exposure and cover many other topics to get you comfortable with your camera. DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, April 28th\, 2019\n9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m \nThis hike is open to youth ages 11 to 17 and their parent or guardian.\nAdults attending MUST be accompanying a youth. \nJoin New Jersey Audubon and the New Jersey Young Birders Club for an exciting field trip to Petty’s Island. Learn about the island’s industrial past and its transformation to a wildlife sanctuary as we hike along the Delaware River looking for spring migrants. The varied habitats allow for opportunities to see a variety of birds (and other wildlife too!). Bring an adult along and enjoy this rare opportunity. \nChildren MUST be 12 and older (or 11 in grade 6) to participate and accompanied by an adult or in a group with an adult to child ratio of 1:7. Each child must have a waiver signed by their parent or guardian. All adult chaperones must also have a signed waiver to participate. Registration is REQUIRED for this event; space is limited.
