DESCRIPTION:Bio(gas)hazards: Dirty Air\, Factory Farms and Climate Change\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOil and gas companies are teaming up with factory farms to sell us a greenwashed nightmare: manure as renewable energy.\n\nManure-to-energy\, or “biogas\,” uses manure from factory farms to create natural gas. It entrenches factory farms by creating a market for the huge volumes of manure they produce. Investing in the massive infrastructure needed to produce biogas wastes critical resources that should be used to shift us toward real renewable energy. It will disproportionately impact communities of color. And it won’t address our climate crisis or our factory farm problem.

Learn about the island’s industrial past and its transformation to a wildlife sanctuary as we hike along the Delaware River looking for spring migrants. The varied habitats allow for opportunities to see a variety of birds (and other wildlife too!). Bring an adult along and enjoy this rare opportunity. \nChildren MUST be 12 and older (or 11 in grade 6) to participate and accompanied by an adult or in a group with an adult to child ratio of 1:7. Each child must have a waiver signed by their parent or guardian. All adult chaperones must also have a signed waiver to participate. Registration is REQUIRED for this event; space is limited. DESCRIPTION:Please join the Pinelands Perservation Alliance for a workshop to build your own rain barrel on Saturday\, February 23rd from 1 pm to 3 pm.  Workshop includes a presentation about how rain barrels work\, the importance of water conservation\, and other tips to protect our water. After the presentation we will build a fully functional rain barrel for you to take home! Registration fee is $10 per barrel.
