SUMMARY:Movie Screening 'Sustainable'
DESCRIPTION:Come see a free movie of the film Sustainable \nAt Eilandarts Center is located in the newly-restored Station Coffee building in historic Merchantville\, NJ. With more than 3\,000 square feet\, Eilandarts Center features a naturally lit gallery space\, three dedicated music rooms\, and a fully-stocked arts and crafts center including sewing machines\, book-binding\, and ceramics supplies. \n \nA vital investigation of the economic and environmental instability of America’s food system\, from the agricultural issues we face — soil loss\, water depletion\, climate change\, pesticide use — to the community of leaders who are determined to fix it. Sustainable is a film about the land\, the people who work it and what must be done to sustain it for future generations. \nThe narrative of the film focuses on Marty Travis\, a seventh-generation farmer in central Illinois who watched his land and community fall victim to the pressures of big agribusiness. Determined to create a proud legacy for his son\, Marty transforms his profitless wasteland and pioneers the sustainable food movement in Chicago. \nSustainable travels the country seeking leadership and wisdom from some of the most forward thinking farmers like Bill Niman\, Klaas Martens and John Kempf – heroes who challenge the ethical decisions behind industrial agriculture. It is a story of hope and transformation\, about passion for the land and a promise that it can be restored to once again sustain us.

SUMMARY:Plants for Sensory Stimulation (Fragrance\, Touch and Sound)
DESCRIPTION:Horticultural Society of South Jersey presents Bruce Crawford\, Director of Rutgers Gardens.  Typically\, we only focus on the sense of sight when designing a garden. However\, in order to make a garden as “complete” of an experience as possible\, elements that stimulate the remaining four senses need to be incorporated. Plants for Sensory Stimulation looks at a number of those plants that impact the senses beyond sight and how best they can be incorporated into the garden!  Free and open to the public.
