DESCRIPTION:This hike is open to youth ages 12 to 17 and their parent or guardian.\nAdults attending MUST be accompanying a youth.\nJoin New Jersey Audubon and the New Jersey Young Birders Club for an exciting field trip to Petty’s Island. Learn about the island’s industrial past and its transformation to a wildlife sanctuary as we hike along the Delaware River looking for spring migrants. The varied habitats allow for opportunities to see a variety of birds (and other wildlife too!). Bring an adult along and enjoy this rare opportunity.\nChildren MUST be 12 and older (or in grade 6 if 11) to participate and accompanied by an adult or in a group with an adult to child ratio of 1:7. Each child must have a waiver signed by their parent or guardian. You will learn what makes a rain garden different\, how you can plant your own rain garden\, the importance of green infrastructure and native plants\, and actually help us plant and construct our rain garden! \n  \nWhen and where?  \nMay 3 at 1 PM at Crystal Lake Park\, 2401 Axe Factory Rd\, Bordentown\, NJ 08505.  There will be people to direct you from the parking lot to the planting site. DESCRIPTION:Come join the AmeriCorps NJ Watershed Ambassadorsand the Crafts Creek Spring Hill Brook Watershed Association as we try to clean up New Jersey!  This is a fun event for all ages! We will be cleaning up along Kinkora Road which will help prevent trash from entering the Delaware River. Phil Witt will show you some of the island’s hidden gems and unique features. If you have a telephoto lens\, bring it! Petty’s Island offers a great variety of birds both in the forest and on the surrounding mud flats. Spectacular panoramic views of Philadelphia will round out the experience. Phil will provide hands-on\, personalized instruction and work with you on composition giving you tools and tips for determining the optimum exposure and cover many other topics to get you comfortable with your camera.
