DESCRIPTION:James Spalding served as the Paraguayan General Director (2013-2018) of ITAIPU Binacional\, the world leader in both accumulated hydroelectric energy generation (over 2.4 billion MWh) and annual energy generation\, having reached 103\,098\,366 MWh in 2016. ITAIPU Binacional\, located on the Paraná River\, is jointly owned by Paraguay and Brazil\, through ANDE and ELETROBRAS respectively and with an installed capacity of 14\,000 MW\, is the second largest hydroelectric dam in the world. \nThis lecture addresses critical issues of global magnitude\, as the issue of transformative technology continues to be at the forefront of global discussions about the future of sustainable energy in the world. DESCRIPTION:The Delaware River Basin Commission has been sitting on an open permit application from the PennEast pipeline for over three years. The public has proven that the information included in the PennEast application is false\, misleading and deficient.  It is time for the DRBC to reject the project and close the file. \nDRBC taking strong action on PennEast is more important than ever as the Trump administration’s works to rollback the rights of states to review and reject pipelines and the ravages of climate change\, largely due to the oil and gas industry\, are reaching a tipping point. \nWe need you to sign the petition\, and if you lead an organization to also sign the organization letter\, to urge DRBC to act. \nAnd we need you to please plan to join us on December 11 at the DRBC Commissioners meeting – 10 am in Washington Crossing\, PA – to make clear to the DRBC and the governors of the 4 watershed states that we demand a rejection of the PennEast pipeline now\, today\, because there is no way to justify keeping their false and deficient permit application open any longer\, and because the science is clear that if this project were allowed to advance it would have devastating consequences for our river\, region\, communities\, nation and world! \nMore information. \n\nAfter taking action\, please help spread the word by forwarding this action using the link here.

Within environmental poetry\, ecopoetry explores nature and its relationship with humans with the ecopoets treating nature as “a separate and equal other.” Ecopoetry is also about the desire for creating change – it is urgent\, it aims to unsettle. It has a desire to issue a “warning” of some kind.
